100Mb Broadband to be debuted in UK

Even although current ntl customers have still yet to recieve their free 10Mbit ntl upgrades, ntl is looking to the future and looking to new technologies to make 100Mbit connections available to all.

Cable company NTL will be trialling a new service in March. In partnership with Arris and BitTorrent the trial will take place in Ashford, Kent. The 100Mb speed will be 10 times the highest speed offered by NTL at the moment.

NTL aren’t just offering this speed increase out of the goodness of their hearts, the bosses at NTL have been working hard over the past few months, with a takeover of Telewest broadband currently taking place and a proposed bid for Virgin Mobile. This move will add another direction to their plans. With a 100Mb service HD videos will be readily available, and with the support of BitTorrent these can easily be shared, with appropriate licenses of course.

Website progress

If you are a regular of this site, (I do believe there are only two of you) you may have noticed all the new content I've been creating lately. New sections for reviews, downloads and videos have now been added and they are all 'packed full' of content. The gallery section has also undergone change as now it matches this main website. Stick around for more change as it comes.

NTL to Offer 10Mb Service to All by End of Year

This is just a story to fill the main page but I chose it as I thought that it may interest some of you in the way that it has interested myself. NTL have released information on the restructuring of their broadband packages, which they aim to implement fully by the end of this year. The first to receive the new proposed speed of 10Mb will be users of their existing 3Mb service. NTL then hopes to offer a 10Mb service to all existing customers by 2006.

A revised bandwidth limit will see existing 3Mb customers given 75Gb, instead of 30Gb which is the advised limit at the moment. It is thought that customers on the 1Mb and 2Mb packages will be given smaller amounts of bandwidth a month, but with the same 10Mb speed shared throughout. NTL will also offer other packages with unlimited usage. NTL stated “For the first time, a customer will be able to match speed, usage allowance and price to their individual needs. A new broadband user will be able to enjoy the same 10Mb speed as an experienced surfer and as their online expertise grows, simply move up to a higher allowance.

Website Redesign

This morning I began the long arduous task of redesigning this website and dedicating some time into creating some new content. In the process of upgrading the system the old news posts and reviews were lost. I am working my hardest to restore these from a previous backup but the code used in the old system differs considerably from this newer version so the news and reviews of old may never be recovered.

Oh well - back to coding and changing settings.
